Country young person and the fashion parade will make a return to the 2025 Exeter Show! The 2025 Fashion Parade will have three categories:
1. The every day wear day or evening is to be a completely new garment. Judging includes points for the suitability of the garment to the wearer, the suitablility of the fabric for the garment, and the quality of the workmanship. It is necessary for a live model to parade the garment on the runway for the final points of the judging.
2. Recycled or upcycled is a little bit loose and open to interpretation. Some people may use recycled plastics (many years ago people would shred bread bags and crochet them into mats or garments, or the entrant may use a compilation of different fabrics from other garments i.e. old jeans, or t-shirts, quilted together to form a garment. This section does not require a written statement, but needs a description of what materials were used & declaration of how it has be recycled to demonstrate the sustainability i.e. a dress made from an old doona cover. The garment must be modelled on the runway/catwalk for final points in judging.
3. Wearable art - quite a wide field, but could include hand painted fabric, that has been turned into a garment (safe option and usable) Some may like to go a bit more extreme, and may make a garment from paper, or plastic bottles. This section is a little more out there - not something that is necessarily going to be worn on a day to day basis. This is where authentic, conceptional ideas come in to play and requires a written explanation of the process to create the garment . The garment must be modelled on the runway/catwalk as part of the judging process.
